DraftVirtual Cycling

Which smart trainers work.

If your trainer speaks Bluetooth and you have Chrome or Edge on a computer, you have what you need.

What you need.

  • A Bluetooth smart trainer

Your trainer needs Bluetooth and FTMS, the open standard smart trainers use to report power and take resistance commands.

  • A computer with Chrome or Edge

The browser connects to your trainer directly. Chrome and Edge can do that; Safari and Firefox can't, so iPhone and iPad are out for now.

  • Nothing else

No app and no dongle. Open the page, connect, ride.

Where we are.

Draft Virtual Cycling is in early access, so here is exactly what has been ridden and what hasn't.

  • What we ride on

Draft Virtual Cycling is developed and tested on a Wahoo KICKR CORE 2. Resistance follows the gradient of the road.

  • Other trainers

Other trainers that support FTMS over Bluetooth should connect the same way, but we haven't ridden them ourselves. If yours doesn't, tell us at support@draftapp.io.

  • Still in testing

Bluetooth power meters and heart-rate straps are being tested. ANT+ is not supported, because browsers can't use it.
